Passing on the tradition of coin collecting

" Photo Credit: Courtesy and used with permission PCGS, Professional Coin Grading Service and www.PCGSCoinfacts.com 1893 Isabella Quarter MS 68+"

You've had your coin collection for a long time quite possibly for decades. Some older folk try to pass on the tradition of collecting coins to their families only to discover their interests differ from them. Some younger folk like fast cars or motorcycles whiles others are interested in computers, gaming, cell phones, and tablets. It isn't to difficult to see the influence computers and the Internet have had on younger generations.

Take for example coin collecting what a wonderful hobby to have as a youngster or adult. Some collect coins for their artistic characteristics. There is nothing like looking at a Gem Brilliant Uncirculated coin under a magnifying glass. Others collect coins with the hope of appreciation in value over time.

Intuitively, when Pope John Paul II looked under a magnifying glass at the description of the miracle in a book which was performed through the life of Saint Padre Pio during his Canonization. Now looking at coins with that magnifying glass any coin collector would consider that cool.

You really need to have enthusiasm for this hobby to be able to pass it on to others. One way would be to share history to your family by collecting Commemorative coins. Commemorative coins have come down in value from their high in the early '80s. Now is a good time to buy some of these rich in history coins. Another way to share history is to define the meanings of Liberty, In God We Trust and E Pluribus Unum to a family member which is on most old and modern coins alike.

Sharing your passion for this hobby provides an experience unlike many. This hobby is both a passive and an active hobby. You make of it what you desire and sharing creates feelings of satisfaction as well.

Start by passing this tradition onto someone looking to pass time or become active in a hobby known as the King of hobbies.

1854 Arrows Seated Liberty Dime Rev.
Jeffrey Allard of Rhode Island is the Administrator of the coin roll hunting group on Facebook which focuses its attention on coin collectors who search through rolls of coins from areas of RI, MA, and CT. Mr. Allard especially founded this group to foster a spirit of respect and kindness among its members instead of the unkindness he saw on other coin roll hunting groups. Also, the group's role concentrates on the education of its members in the field of numismatics.

The group offers competitions, contests and meets for its members. Journalist Louis J. Pinga has participated in some of these contests and competitions and won several coins such as an 1854 Arrows Seated Liberty Dime and an 1875 Seated Liberty Dime for inviting new members to the group as well as a 1926-S Standing Liberty Quarter by guessing the hidden date. All members are eligible for the contests and competitions.

Although membership is restricted to people who coin roll hunt in RI, MA and CT the demographics are quite large. Rhode Island has a population of 1,063,785, Massachusetts 6,093,015 and Connecticut 3,589,182 with a total estimated 2019 Population for these three States of 10,745,982.

  • The biggest challenge a Facebook group in numismatics or the study of the history of money has consists of other interests that the young generations explore. Today gaming, cell phones, tablets, and computers comprise a significant amount of time for young generations. The Coin Roll Hunting Group RI, MA, CT offers many of those outlets through the use of technology while bringing practicality in terms of a hands-on approach for coin collectors to learn and prosper.

If you are from Rhode Island, Massachusetts or Connecticut Jeffrey Allard would like for you to consider joining the Coin Roll Hunting Group for which he administers. It's a great family-oriented hobby and a good way to study history as well.

Octave Day of Christmas next week

For some this week is a week of redemption others it means the continuation of the Christmas holiday. Such things as meeting family and friends this weekend are likely as well as the giving and receiving of gifts. Saint Nicholas has placed a very special place in the hearts and minds of children and adults. Saint Nicholas or Santa Claus gave three gold coins to the father of three poor girls so that they wouldn't have to lead lives as harlots. He continued to give coins away throughout his life. Thus, Saint Nicholas is the patron Saint of pawnbrokers.

Saint Nicholas

This Christmas season numerous individuals placed gold Kruggerands in the Red Salvation Army buckets. In a sense, these individuals have taken on the role of Saint Nicholas or Santa Claus by helping the poor individuals who are provided assistance by the Salvation Army.

Blessings to all the individuals who took part in this kind of gift-giving as well as others in the community who gave to various charitable causes.

The spirit of Christmas and gift-giving and receiving continues throughout this week for young and old. If you have a Christmas tree up, you can leave it up for a little while longer at least until the Octave day of Christmas, January 1st, 2019.

West Warwick, R.I. 50th Anniversary coin

West Warwick celebrated its 50th Anniversary in 1963. Former Coin Dealer Al Ruzzo, RIP served on the Anniversary committee and came up with the idea of placing a 1963 Lincoln cent in a 2" X 2" holder and stamping the Town of West Warwick Seal on it along with the birth year of our Town and Anniversary date.

The Town of West Warwick and the Federal Reserve have the same birth years. This was no coincidence since the Federal Reserve was lobbied for by Former Republican U.S. Senator Nelson Aldrich of Foster, RI. Nelson Aldrich married a Rockefeller daughter when John D. Rockefeller owned Centerville Bank in West Warwick, RI.

In 1914 World War I began, the "War to End all Wars" actually it was the start of the war for war never to end. The best way to create new credit for banks is to start a war. Historians know that the U.S. Government knew a German U Boat would sink the Lusitania, a British Ocean Liner which would foretell us to declare war on Germany on April 6, 1917. Historians know the U.S. Government knew Pearl Harbor was going to be bombed by Japan which presaged the U.S. to enter World War II. Historians know the Gulf of Tonken Event was a staged event to escalate the Vietnam Conflict.

Veterans Day is November 11th, 1918 our 100th year Anniversary when World War I ended.

Millions of people died during the war and afterward from sickness. It was not the "War to End all Wars." Why did we allow the US economy to be taken hostage by a Financial System run by a Cartel of Bankers whose main objective is to enrich themselves and create new credit through war?

Call your Congressperson and tell them to invoke the Lincoln Law or the False Claims Act against the Federal Reserve. There is nothing Federal about the Federal Reserve it is a Cartel of Bankers. Also, request that the Federal Reserve be audited.
